Will you add other delivery windows?
For now, Saturday mornings and Wednesday afternoon/evenings are the only delivery windows I offer, just to make sure I’m delivering a fresh product. You can always let me know if you need to make other arrangements if you have extenuating circumstances.
Can I pick up my order instead?
I offer delivery so there are fewer cars on the road (sustainability, mama!), and so I’m not waiting for customers to show up to get their orders. If a delivery window does not work for your schedule, please let me know and we can arrange a pickup window that works for both of us.
Can I buy more waffles when you drop off my delivery?
At this time, no. I offer small-batch bakes to properly measure how much sourdough starter I need to prep, and to minimize food waste. If you forget to add something or make a mistake on your order, shoot me an email and we can correct it. I also frequently vend at Madison area markets, so you can purchase directly from me there.
You should make a ____________ waffle!
I’m always experimenting with new, seasonal flavors and taking suggestions. I am happy with my core 5 flavor offerings, but like to keep my menu fresh and fun. Some waffles that I will not be making:
- Protein Waffles: these turned out with either too little protein to make it worthwhile or it was a protein packed waffle that tasted horrible. If you want protein without a lot of added calories, I recommend mixing up some powdered peanut butter to spread on your favorite waffle flavor. Or just put an egg on it!
- Gluten Free Waffles: since I work primarily with wheat flour, there really is no safe way for me to make a GF waffle for folks with a serious aversion. Sourdough can be easier to digest, but is not a recommended substitute for someone who can’t have gluten.
Do you take bulk waffle orders or custom orders for other baked goods?
Of course! If you have a custom order request, please email me at waffledaddymadison@gmail.com and we can discuss the cost and timeline of your order.
Can you sell the waffles frozen?
Under Wisconsin cottage food regulations, I am required to sell my product at room temperature. Depending on future resources, I may shift to a “sold frozen for convenience” structure, but will remain at room temp for now.
Can you cater or sell in a food truck?
Wisconsin cottage food laws also restrict me from selling a fully ready-to-eat product. I would love to get to this level one day, but have not grown to that scope yet. As mentioned above, I’m always happy to take bulk or custom orders if desired, and will provide instructions for mass-toasting your waffles.
Can I microwave the waffles?
Yes, but this will take away from the crispy exterior of the waffle. I’m not here to yuck anyone’s yum, so if you like a floppy waffle, have at it! If you’re making something that requires the waffle to have some flexibility (waffle ice cream tacos anyone?) I would recommend not freezing them after purchase so they have some bend but don’t lose their signature texture.
I toasted my waffles in my countertop toaster and the inside is still frozen. What happened?
There are a few things to check here:
1. Make sure your freezer is not set too cold. If it’s really cold, your toaster may be having a hard time warming the inside of the waffle.
2. Make sure your toaster isn’t set too high. Higher coil temperatures will cause the outer layer to brown or scorch before the inside has had a chance to warm up.
3. All toasters are different, and you may find success using a “frozen” or “bagel” setting on your toaster, which warms more gradually while toasting the outside.
Can I freeze, then thaw, and then re-freeze these waffles?
This is not recommended, as shifting between high and low temperatures can make it easy for mold to grow more quickly.
My question wasn’t answered! Is it too early to start panicking?
It’s never too early to panic, so please entertain that impulse as log as it is medically safe to do so! For your question, you can email me at waffledaddymadison@gmail.com and I will respond as soon as possible. While you wait, maybe call your therapist or licensed professional to talk through some of the anxiety you’re feeling?
